Washington State Auditor & King County Recorder’s Fees Increased

On April 6th, the King County Recorder’s Office issued the following notice:

“With the passing of House Bills 1570 and 2578, Washington State will be increasing recording fees effective June 7th, 2018.  For all documents not exempted from homeless housing fees this will be a $25 increase and will include map documents.  Standard OPR documents will now be $99 for the first page and $1 for each additional page.  Deeds of Trust will be $100 plus $1 for each additional page.  There are no changes to copy fees.

Liens and releases of liens submitted by State, County, or Local Governments will now be $37 for the first page and $1 for each additional page.  The Government Lien document type (and Release of Government Lien) will now be restricted to State, County and Local Governments ONLY.  If you are a utility or sewer district that is not directly operated by a local government you will no longer be able to use this document type and must pay the full $99 for your liens and releases.

Watch our website for more information in the coming weeks as we finalize our new fee schedule.  Again, this is a Washington State increase and will be consistent across all counties.”
